I went to see Watchmen at the IMAX the weekend it opened.

I hated it…and I love comic book, graphic, sci-fi and the whole super-hero genre…yes, yes, surprising, I know. Sin City – oh, yes! Watchmen – oh, no!

It was soooo long, nearly three hours. I don’t know about you but three hours…in a wheelchair…it needs to be gripping! I wanted, so badly, to fall asleep.  Every time I shut my eyes, EaZyD poked me, 'if I've got to suffer this....’

Just too much – boring, rushed – character exposition at the expense of tight narrative arc. Not enough of The Comedian – the fabulous Jeffrey Dean Morgan – far too much of the drearily blue – oh, shock, graphically naked - Mr Manhattan and some geeky Batman like character who, naturally, ended up gratuitously entwined with every teenage boy’s fantasy chick, ‘in an elongated sex act … One minute they are putting out fires with the bubble car, the next minute they’re humping each others brains out…’ [from ‘Seven reasons…’ on Rant with Ryan].

I am still lovin’ the IMAX, did I say I saw 300 here and, in fantastic 3D, Beowulf? Fab screen, great wheelchair spaces, good access. What's not to love? We went on a Sunday evening and the parking was a breeze because the whole South Bank complex had nothing on.

They have the new Star Trek film coming soon…can’t wait. Did I mention I am a bit of a Trekkie?
